Of course I am here in Oklahoma, and while it gets 10 or 15 below occasionally in the winter, it never lasts too long at those temperatures...but we have been fishing off and on most all winter, when the weather wasn't too nasty. Most of the ponds freeze up, but the lakes, for the most part, stay open, and only one lake in this area is ever closed during a specific period of time... Some of the lakes may have a skim of ice, but it seldom lasts more than a week or two at a time... My wife and our daughter and son in law, and I went to a small lake in a state park yesterday, as a matter of fact, and brought in several large crappie and a few small bass that we filleted out...and if we get the rain they are talking about for the next several days, the sand bass will be running at the spillway at the city lake this coming weekend.

Thanks mongo, that was a pretty cool article. We have white bass up here too. nobody really gives them much thought though. It's all walleyes and northerns up here.
