First day out ice fishing yesterday. Took a guy from work out on his first ever ice fishing trip. He out fished me. We caught 13 trout. Rainbows & Browns. I believe I have created an ice fishing monster. By the time we were leaving he was talking about going out and buying poles, auger, shanty, the whole 9 yards. I took my new under water camera I got for christmas. That was way cool. Didn't even have to watch the bobber, just watch the fish take the bait and jerk. I know most of you are from the southern area but are there any other ice fisherman out there?

I've never fished thru the ice. I've watched people do it a few times when I was stationed in Alaska... Congrats on the fish. Sounds like you all had a most excellent day.

I have been out quite a bit this season but the bite has really slowed. I can't wait for the water to open up.

When I was back in Wis. it seemed like as soon as Feb. came the Pike and Walleyes quit biting. Usually just went after panfish after that. Don't count out the perch just before iceout. The big ones turn on in March pretty good. We used to go to Winnibigosh in March and do real well. The fishing right here bites. Only 2 lakes within 100 miles and 1 of those is like the dead sea. The other is small trout only & I don't really care for trout. Only fish for them because thats all I have. Then if you do travel the 4-5 hrs. to a walleye lake you can't use live bait. Twisted.
