ZEBCO used to be located only about 65 or so miles from my home, but has moved. I'm not sure exactly where now... But they used to allow you to trade in old, worn out, or broken reels on new ones at a very deep discount. I mean, I have traded in 15 dollar reels (1980's dollars)that were broken or worn out, for a new one for like 5 or 6 bucks...and their little 202's and 404's which sold for about 5 to 7 dollars back then could be traded for a new one for only a buck and a half or 2 dollars.... We'd wait utill the family had several, then make the drive over to deal with them...or you could also send them in...... I really don't know if they still do this or not.... Has anyone else ever dealt with ZEBCO, or any other reel company like this ?

You might try their customer service number at ...
1-800-588-9030
...and ask them about whether or not they still do the "trade-in" with old reels for new ones... I have an address in Tulsa, but am not sure that it is the correct one for repair work or trade-ins... I was recently told that they moved to Claremore...but I am not real sure of that.
But one thing to keep in mind, like with that ABU reel, if they no longer make the model you trade in, they will replace it with the model that is most like it.... I started with one of their better reels quite a number of years ago...and the first time I traded it I got a ZEBCO ONE back in replacement... Several years later I traded that one in and got an OMEGA ONE back as replacement...and I still have it and it is still going... The same thing with an old ZEBCO HOSS. After 2 or 3 trade-ins over the years, I believe that I ended up with an 808...which is also still going.

Then they don't do that any more ? ........... I know they still make the 33's... but I don't feel they are near the quality they once were.... In fact, I have 4 or 5 old ZEBCO reels myself that I was thinking about tradeing in.
But I wouldn't trade in a certain model that I wanted to hang onto... Many, many years ago I traded in a ZEBCO 66... It was about like a 33 in those days, except that it was black instead of silver...as a replacement they sent me a 33, if I recall, because they had stopped making the 66's....and now the old, original 66's are starting to gain a certain amount of collector value... Wish now I had just kept it instead of tradeing it in.
