Just wondering... You deer hunters, when you skin your deer, do you just toss the hide, or do you save it...and if you save it, what do you do with it ? .............. I used to just toss some, but some I kept. "Back in the day" my wife used to do quite a bit of tanning with various animals. With deer, some of the hides she tanned with the hair on, but some she tanned with the hair off to get the leather... And she added a few extra bucks to the family income by tanning hides and furs and snake skins for other people. Most wanted their deer hides done with the hair left on....... But what do you usually do with your hides ?

Years ago, I had one hide tanned with the hair on. It now sits on top of my file cabinet in my office. (Nice conversation starter with parents and kids - I work in a school) Most years we drop our hides off with one of many local "collectors" which either give us gift certificates for a store or a pair of deerskin gloves. Happy hunting and Thanksgiving!

We just take the deer to the deer processor to have it cut and wrapped. They skin it out.I imagine they sell them for a couple bucks. I never had one tanned.
Danny I bet you would squeal like a Oklahoma sweat hog.I'm sure you have them in OK? As far as I know they are everywhere. Maybe you or Mongo can demostrate it for us LOL Let the banjo music begin. and a squeal squeal here and a squeal squeal there everywhere a squeal squeal..........

Oh yeah? I don't see you bringin' your scrawny ol' red chicken out here to Oklahoma. We know who'd be squealing!! I know why you want me to come out to OK. You want to see the scrawny ol'e red chicken in person. I never knew you wanted one that badly. All you had to do is ask. You probably didn't yell loud enough over the Oklahoma Banjo pig squealing music that's why I didn't hear you. If you want I'll send you a living color picture. That way you can frame it and drool over it. I'm glad I didn't get one on each arm I wouldn't have a minutes peace. What's funny we keep saying Pig Squealing when it's actually Danny squealing the entire time.
